Tap is offered as part of our combination classes for dancers ages 4–11, as well as a stand-alone class for students ages 5 and up.
Tap dance is an exciting and energetic style that allows dancers to become both movers and musicians. Using the metal taps on their shoes, students learn to create rhythms, sounds, and patterns with their feet while developing coordination, timing, musicality, and control.
Through the Al Gilbert and ADAPT syllabi, dancers will build a strong foundation in tap technique, including basic steps, rhythm patterns, weight changes, clarity of sound, and proper footwork. As students progress, they will learn more complex combinations and rhythms while gaining confidence, precision, and performance skills.
Tap is a fun and engaging class that helps dancers strengthen their listening skills, improve rhythm, and discover the joy of making music through movement.

New this season!
Tap Tricks and Steps is a technique-focused class designed to enhance and build on a dancer’s tap training. Dancers will work on developing the clarity, rhythm, timing, coordination, speed, and control needed to execute a variety of tap steps, tricks, and combinations.
This class will focus on proper tap technique, weight placement, sound quality, musicality, balance, foot articulation, and safe execution of more challenging skills. Dancers will have the opportunity to break down steps, strengthen their tap vocabulary, and build confidence applying these skills in combinations.
Tap Tricks and Steps is an optional additional class for tap dancers as part of their continued technical development for dancers who are looking to challenge themselves, improve their tap skills, and further develop their confidence and musicality.
Please note that this class is for skill development only and does not include a performance component.
